About Us

We created GorillaHub to change how business websites are built and managed.

We needed a new website.

Like many businesses our website was a little old and tired, looked rubbish on a mobile phone and wasn’t easy to keep up to date.  We had to call a developer each time we wanted to make changes to the content and it wasn’t easy to add new the new features our business needed.

We needed a new website.

Like many businesses our website was a little old and tired, looked rubbish on a mobile phone and wasn’t easy to keep up to date.  We had to call a developer each time we wanted to make changes to the content and it wasn’t easy to add new the new features our business needed.

Our website had become a source of frustration and we put off replacing it.  We looked at all the options available – slick city agencies (too expensive), freelance developers (couldn’t design), freelance designers (couldn’t develop) and offshore firms (too unreliable).

What we were looking for was an agency that focused on delivery, that didn’t cost the earth and could work flexibly and grow the site with us.

We were looking for a website partner, but found everyone only wanted to talk about “the new site”.  Nobody was talking about the ongoing support and management we wanted.  If you are reading this far we are sure you have been there.

Roll on a few years, a local web design agency was looking for a new owner and it sparked an idea – what if we took it over and made it into something new?

Not another agency

We imagined an agency that wasn’t driven only by the project. An agency that didn’t design flashy complicated sites because they looked good in a portfolio or awards nomination.  An agency that would hold a customers hand throughout the entire lifetime of their website.  An agency without big upfront costs to pay for the funky offices and the skateboarding designers.

It did not take us long to realise we didn’t want an agency at all.

We wanted a company that would deliver and manage websites for businesses with a focus on processes and technology enabling excellent service delivery.  The opposite, as we saw it, to most small web agencies.

What is GorillaHub?

Often we are asked about the name.  The hub refers to our goal of bringing a range of web services for businesses together and deliver them the same way.  As for Gorilla – look at our founders’ pictures.  They ain’t no spring chickens but a pair of grizzled veterans oozing experience.  Perfect to bring a bit of old school rigour to the website industry.

We believe:

  • Technology is an amazing enabler to offer businesses a competitive edge
  • Ideas are good; execution is better
  • The internet is a business essential and we help make sense of it
  • A simple website with a strong message is better for a business than a flashy design with poor content
  • Off the shelf solutions are nearly always preferable to building your own
  • Structured delivery is best only way to deliver consistency and scalability
  • A whiteboard, some coffee and a little code can literally create magic
